The Best Electric Shaver for Women 2015: Keep those legs smooth!

Panasonic has produced two of the best electronic shavers for women

As a "hairy Scotswoman" who has always suffered from excessive body hair, I've tried my share of hair removal methods, some with success and some not so much. Laser hair removal eliminated 60% of my leg hair, while occasional epilation, hair removal creams and waxing keep the rest of my body hair under control. However, I've never given up on the traditional way of keeping smooth and hairless - the faithful electric shaver.

In this article, I'd like to share with you two of the best electric shavers for women on the market today. Both are products made by Panasonic, one of the top producers of women's electric shavers. With the help of these shavers, I've found that my underarm, leg and bikini line hair has become much more manageable, as I am sure you will!

1. Panasonic ES2207P Close Curves Wet/Dry Ladies Shaver - The brand most women tend to go for (me included)!

Panasonic ES2207P Close Curves Wet/Dry Ladies Shaver

This Panasonic ES2207P women's shaver is all about getting into those hard-to-reach areas and attacking the hairs along those difficult curves. Thankfully, it delivers very well. Every time I've used this razor, I've always come out of the shower with smooth and silky skin without a single annoying razor burn. That's a huge improvement on the razors I used to use as a teenager.

One piece of advice I can give you if you are not used to electric shavers is to fully charge the shaver before using it. Doing so will give it the full power it needs to slice off those unwanted hairs without the risk of it nicking your skin.

Another suggestion is to use this shaver in either a completely wet or completely dry environment, not a moist or humid environment. Moisture in the air will cause the shaver to slip, and you'll be tempted to press too hard, resulting in cuts. I generally prefer a dry shave as it gives me better results.

Some important features this women's shaver has to offer are:

  • a wet/dry function that allows you utilise the shaver in the bath or shower or "on dry land" and immerse the shaver in water for thorough cleaning
  • two precise and durable pop-up trimmers that cut long and stray hairs
  • a triple blade system with thin hypoallergenic
  • shaving foil for a precise and smooth shave
  • a compact and lightweight design

Panasonic ES2291D Ladies Wet/Dry Shaver White/Orange

The second shaver in this selection, the Panasonic Ladies Wet/Dry Shaver, is the first model I owned out of the two. (Sadly, I left it in a hotel room which is why I ended up purchasing the ES2207P model shown above.)

This shaver is very efficient at providing a satisfying shave in both wet and dry conditions. Though the shave isn't quite as close as that you get with a razor, I never experienced cuts or burns using this product, which is all a girl could ever ask from a shaver. The bikini trimmer made cleaning up my bikini line simple and painless. Whereas I never used to go swimming, I actually dared to wear a bikini after using this shaver.

Unlike the model above, the Panasonic ES2291D doesn't require electrical charging. Rather, it takes AAA batteries, which thankfully last for quite some time. It is completely cordless, making it easy to use wherever you go.

Some important features this women's shaver has to offer are:

  • a wet/dry function that allows you choose between shaving in the bath or shower or in a dry area like the living room or bedroom
  • a pop-up detail trimmer for long and stray hairs
  • a rubberised ergonomic grip to stop the shaver from slipping as you shave
  • an additional bikini trimmer attachment for those hard-to-reach areas

Tips on how to shave with an electric shaver - How to shave without giving yourself nicks and burns

  1. As I mentioned previously, try not to use an electric shaver in moist conditions. This means that bathrooms right after a shower and saunas are definitely out. The reason for this is that the shaver won't get a good grip and will start to slide. For the most efficient shave possible, choose to do it in either completely wet or completely dry conditions.
  2. Make sure you trim extremely long hair, as it can get clogged up inside a shaver, reducing the sharpness of the blades. It is a good idea not to leave too much time between shaves to achieve the smoothest results possible.
  3. Exfoliating before shaving is a very good idea. Doing so eliminates any dead skin cells that may be lingering around, waiting to clog up your shaver. I've found that the best way to exfoliate is to use a glove with woven loops as it dries quickly and does not become mouldy in the bathroom.

What would you recommend for a male cross-dresser trying to shave his legs? Just curious.
