According to me there was no land to which the Egyptians' Ancestry belonged to. Modern day DNA tests have proved that the Egyptians were a separate race by themselves who were native to Egypt. Their reference to Punt as the land of their ancestors may be due to social stigma; They wanted to depict themselves as descendants of more advanced cultures and lands of Gods. Hence they liked to refer themselves as descendants of the people of Punt or the Land of Punt.
