Hygrometer: Leonardo da Vinci's Weather Predictions

Hygrometers measure the moisture in the air, and can help predict weather changes. Nicholas of Cusa, a German cardinal and mathematician, in 1450 became the first person to concieve a weather instrument, when he described a hygrometer, an instrument that could measure the amount of humidity in the air. There is no record that Nicholas of Cusa ever built his hygrometer, but Leonardo da Vinci did. In 1481, he took the description and used it to create his own model.
