74Southdown Plantation Home and Museum in Houma, Louisiana
Southdown Plantation and Museum lies fifty miles south of New Orleans in Houma, Louisiana. It is a historic 19th Century plantation that was one of the few that actually built a sugar mill on-site. One of the former owners includes Jim Bowie. It now serves as a tourist destination and beautiful photography site. Southdown is also host to the bi-annual marketplace that brings together of 300 vendors from the region who showoff their hand made items.
