The Byzantine Woman of the Crusades52

The Byzantine Woman of the Crusades

This is a fictional account of what it was like for a Byzantine (Greek) woman during the Crusades. Little known and little studied by Historians, I have used factual history to develop Simonis' story. Of course, the end, with Vlad Tepes, Count Dracula and PBS are not true. Inspired by a fellow hubber today, I found this story I had written long ago in my files and share with you. Enjoy!

VIKING - 1: THREAT FROM THE SEA - Onset of the Viking Age on Mainland Britain

Northmen - pirates or colonisers? According to mediaeval sources they could be both, as witnessed by their campaigns in Normandy or England. Did they deserve their bad press? Well, they didn't exactly court favour from the Church in the early days of raiding Lindisfarne and Iona.

The Emperor and His General75

The Emperor and His General

Justinian’s success as an emperor can be directly attributed to Belisarius’ ability to work with limited resources and still find success. The cunning General was often outnumbered and ill-equipped, but managed to defeat the Persians, Vandals and Ostrogoths during the Empire's fight for existence.
