Shapely Calf Muscles

The major calf muscles are the gastrocnemius and soleus. These two, combined with the deep posterior muscles, the peroneus brevis, flexor longus hallucis, tibialis posticus and flexor longus digitorum and the anterior muscle peroneus longus provide leg power. To develop a strong ankle joint you need to develop those muscles and the dorsiflexors, including the tibialis anterior and extensor digitorum longus.
