Afghan Girl With Green Eyes
The photo of the Afghan girl with green eyes by Steve McCurry first appeared on the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1985. Seventeen years later McCurry returned to Afghanistan and succeeded in locating the woman he had photographed so memorably as a girl. Carl Milles' Orpheus Fountain, Cranbrook Art Academy, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan deedsphotos
Milles at Cranbrook Swedish sculptor Carl Milles was brought to Cranbrook by Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen as director of sculpture in 1931 where he remained until 1952. Saarinen designed the Cranbrook buildings and Milles decorated the grounds with his sculpture. The Orpheus Fountain is, in my opinion, Milles' masterpiece. It is one of the most beautiful sculptures I've seen, rivaling even Rodin's best.

The common grackle is a beautiful but nasty bird who will eat most anything from nestling birds or eggs, frogs, small fish and mice. They usually chase other birds away from our feeder where they feast on sunflower seeds. They are glossy black or browninsh black twelve-and-a-half- inch birds with beautiful yellow eyes and iridescent, purplish blue heads. They are noisy, and their harsh cacks and metallic calls are not in the least muscial. They are found throughout eastern North America and migr
