The Fred Harvey Company established Harvey Houses, Hotels like El Tovar Hotel, and Harvey Indian Rooms throughout the West. The Harvey Company also established the Southwestern Indian Detours in 1926. Trained drivers and well educated guides made it possible for tourists to leave the train and visit Indian pueblos and ruins and other scenic natural wonders.
