Birds of Prey - The Osprey
The Osprey is another beautiful member of the raptor family. Quite widespread around the world, they are located on all continents except for Antarctica. Also known the Sea Hawk or the Fish Hawk, the diet of the Osprey consists almost exclusively of fish. For this reason they can be found near bodies of water such as rivers, marshes, lakes, and seashores.

The term ‘Raptor’ is derived from the Latin raptor meaning plunderer (from the verb to snatch, seize). Raptors fall into two categories: diurnal raptors (daytime predators) and nocturnal raptors (nighttime predators). The group of nocturnal raptors is made up of Owls.
