Sitting at the corner of Fort Hill and North Main Street in the small City of Canandaigua, New York is a stately old home with a candle glowing perpetually in its right front window. An electric candle has replaced the original wax candle that a mother lit for her son when he left to fight in World War I. The candle was to remain burning in the window until the soldier returned. It still glows today almost a century since that son departed for war.
