The American economy has been on a slippery downhill slope since the 1990's. By 2008, the largest corporations and banking institutions were banging down the doors of the Federal Reserve looking for a handout. President Bush was quick to accommodate. With such precedents already in place, it didn't take long for bailouts and government welfare to become a common practice even as our government officials speak about the need to limit funding for the poor,unemployed, and elderly.
