What difference exists between stars and planets

The difference between stars and planets is not a clear cut as many would think. There are bodies that are large enough to be stars, but they do not fuse hydrogen. There are stars so small, such as neutron stars and white dwarfs, that asteroids are bigger in dimension. Then there is the electromagnetic radiation argument and this too can be tricky. It comes down to spectrographic analysis to sort planets from stars.
