A Discourse on Causality70

A Discourse on Causality

This hub explains causality, along with a few other concepts. In addition, it is an attempt to answer how everything in the universe got here, or perhaps that it isn't really here at all.

IRS Loophole Enriches Undocumented Workers78

IRS Loophole Enriches Undocumented Workers

Raising my kids I always told them to be responsible, to take responsibility for their actions. If you did something wrong, be honest, step up and take the punishment that may come for your actions. That’s what I have done my entire life and expect no more or less of my kids. I have been far from an angel in my life, but I took responsibility for my actions, including having been in jail, I never blame anyone nor do I expect anything. There should not be any rewards for not being responsible.

The U.S. Statutory Corporate Tax Rate: The Real Hindrance to the Debt Crisis73

The U.S. Statutory Corporate Tax Rate: The Real Hindrance to the Debt Crisis

The U.S. currently has the highest corporate tax rate at 35 percent, encouraging legal tax evasion techniques, such as corporate inversion. Congress should lower this rate and close loopholes in order for us to become more competitive on the global business paying field and raise total revenue as a collaboration with spending cuts to decrease our national debt.

State Capitalism: in the Wake of the Debate in "The Economist"

The debate in "The Economist" on the issue of state capitalism versus liberal capitalism produced some interesting results as to more nuanced definition of the notion of state capitalism and the importance of historical mode of thinking. Thinking in terms of complexity and evolutionary game theory might be quite productive as well.

Senator Bill Nelson in a Glass House66

Senator Bill Nelson in a Glass House

One of my favorite sayings is “people in glass homes should not throw rocks”. I do not know who said that, but they were wise beyond all. Shame some have not learned that saying or live it. In the world of politics, a glazer can make a fortune replacing the broken glass if the Whitehouse, Senate and House of Representatives were made that way. Now enters Senator Bill Nelson (D-FLA).

How Should The Occupy Wall Street Movement Proceed And To What End?

I, like many Americans, have been watching the Occupy Wall Street movement (OWS) evolve over the last few months with great interest. They began as a seemingly ragtag group of demonstrators but have grown into a very influential movement. OWS has...

Chemical Weapons Must Not Be Used In A Warlike Manner

The Chemical Weapons Convention prohibiting chemical weapons from being used by belligerent nations has been signed by nearly all the countries in the world. Loopholes, however, could allow signatories to use some chemical weapons that could not be used in warfare against their own citizens.
