A 37 week intensive basic Chinese Mandarin class at the Defense Language Institute did much to stimulate my interest in learning foreign languages for conversational fluency. It also led to a career studying and working on Chinese language and cutural topics. The six class periods we had each day were extremely interesting and challenging.
