Muda: Reduce Mura to level Production

Most lean manufacturing practitioners think of Muda when you talk about waste, but there are two other types of waste; Mura and Muri. Mura is the waste of unevenness, or inconsistency, theerfore we need to reduce Mura to level our production. Mura causes un-level production which in turn casues overburden (Muri).

Muda: What is Muri Overburden

Most Lean Manufacturing Practitioners consider waste as only being Muda and the 7 wastes and forget the wastes of Mura and Muri. But what is Muri? It is the Japanese term for “overburden” and refers to the strain that we put on our workers by failing to smooth production and standardise our processes.
