It was the early 1980s, and the radio was just starting to play a new band of out Australia, known for their quirky and unique New Wave sound. INXS, whose name was inspired from an English band called XTC had a lead vocalist with a sultry swagger and a charismatic presence named Michael Hutchence. Tragically his life ended in 1997 when he allegedly committed suicide. Today INXS is the third highest selling Australian act in the United States, second only to AC/DC and the Bee Gees.

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner was born in Wallsend, England on October 2nd, 1951. Sting was born years later when he would wear a favorite yellow and black sweater on stage, in which he was likened to a bumble bee. He was lead soloist in The Police, who were New Wave in sound and all over the radio from 1977 to 1983. In 1981, Sting appeared for the first time solo in a live appearance at The Secret Policeman's Other Ball as a 4th anniversary fundraiser for Amnesty International.

Danny Elfman took over the band from brother, Richard, who left the group in 1976 to begin a career in film making.
