The BRP Gregorio del Pilar, once known as the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) Hamilton, (WHEC-715), was transferred to the Philippine Navy as it's flagship. The ship was acquired under the Mutual Defense Treaty with the United States, which allows the Philippine Military to acquire used and excess stock from the U.S. arsenal.
