A Scotsman from Edinburgh becomes an officer in the Chilean Navy in 1883 and during one of his trips in the Chilean Patagonia in the vicinity of the Beagle Channel, helps to survey an unmapped island, and gives it his name. He was my Great Grandfather, John Robert Stewart.
