The Chinese Tang dynasty poet Du Fu is often called the sage of poetry. His touching works show great concern for his people. Du Fu was compassionate about the time he lived in and grieved over its chaos. He refused compromise in adversity, and stayed faithful to his convictions even in the midst of great poverty.
