On April 2, 1672 while in the village of Tomhom, they were treacherously killed by 2 village chiefs with spears and machetes over the baptism of a baby girl. The plan to honor the martyred catechist and sacristan Pedro Calungsod, a Filipino is currently in the making. His canonization is set Oct. 21, 2012.
