The El Tovar Hotel located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona was opened by the Fred Haarvey Company in 1905. The hotel was decorated by Mary Jane Coulter and was intended to resemble a cross between a rustic hunting lodge and a Swiss chalet.
