I instantly enjoyed quite a hearty chuckle out of the newest trend phenomena sweeping through the middle schools and high schools in this country. Upon further research, I have found that there are many new teen cliques and groups that seem to be subgenres or subcultures of the goth and emo trends. A 37 week intensive basic Chinese Mandarin class at the Defense Language Institute did much to stimulate my interest in learning foreign languages for conversational fluency. It also led to a career studying and working on Chinese language and cutural topics. The six class periods we had each day were extremely interesting and challenging.
