Only in Phoenix : From the People of Walmart to the Phoenix New Times and Beyond
Off to Phoenix! It's 2:00 a.m. when the Subaru pulls out of the driveway. The battered but trusty Outback and I are headed to a Walmart on Thomas Road to meet our friend Sherri, a former inmate required by the state to do a few months at a halfway...
5 commentsMy Top 10 Favorite TV Dads
Through the decades of television the networks have presented us with dozens of dads. In the beginning they were idealistic, with outdated thinking, but nonetheless lovable. Now there are few who are portrayed as intelligent, moral role models. So here are my top 10 choices from the past.

To serve and protect, that's what the police say they stand for. Well not in her book they don't, they let her best friend get murdered. They may as well have pulled the trigger themselves. Even after Ivy St. James' plea to just listen to what she...

3 commentsHey John can I borrow your Playbook; I’m in this to lose
Can you believe it? Four years ago we got our head handed to us because our Cardboard Cut Out of a Candidate refused to allow his operatives to run the type of campaign necessary to win. John McCain chose the so called high road disallowing any of...

9 commentsProperty Taxes another name for rent Part 4
Sunday, April 22, 2012 Still more on property taxes, ETC. Hi folks, this time it's a letter-to-the-editor (two letters, in fact: They're trying to get ahead of me) that is prompting me to write. This is my fourth blog on the subject and I would...
6 commentsProperty Taxes another word for rent Part 2
Homeowners should not have to pay rent to live in their own home. But that's how it's set up to pay for many county services that "everybody" gets to partake of. Believe it or not, I'm not anti-tax. I know it takes money to run things. What I am again is property tax. It makes it difficult for a person who isn't rich to own a home, and let a year or two go buy when one simply can't pay that bill: Then the interest gets piled on, and on, and on.
