Nevada City California during the gold rush era and the female gambler Madame Mustache. Her name was Eleanore Dumont. She made money by opening a gambling parlor in Nevada City that attracted hundreds on miners and prospectors. Madame Mustache later traveled to mining towns and camps throughout the western United States. She died in 1879 in Bodie California.
