Building the Capacity of Health Care Professionals in Western Province, Zambia

We evaluated the effectiveness of training Zambian health care professionals in their rural work settings in Western Province. Courses taught were practical, hands on, and tailored to the specific needs of the workers themselves. Non infectious disease topics were taught Participants reported being able to offer to their patients better quality of care, reduced referrals, reduced infections, reduced hospital stays, better long-term better long-term prognoses, and decreased mortality rates.
