Greek Philosopher: Zeno of Elea

Zeno of Elea was a Greek philosopher born in Elea in southern Italy early in the 5th century BC. He was the favorite disciple of Parmenides, whom he accompanied to Athens in 448, and whose doctrine of the One he upheld in a series of famous paradoxes, e.g. Achilles and the Tortoise. Aristotle called Zeno 'the founder of dialectic'.
