5 Easy Ways to Improve Your Wordpress Blog

Wordpress is the de facto standard in blogging. Wordpress has evolved into a capable CMS that can run your entire site. There are many advantages in hosting your own blog. Freedom and control are 2 reasons. With Wordpress, it is easy to use to create and manage a blog. There are many people that make common mistakes that hurt their blog. There are many unspoken rules when it comes to blogging. It's easy to make mistake and I will help you avoid these common mistakes. Here are 5 easy ways to improve your Wordpress blog. Success can mean different things to different people. I believe improving you blog means having a low bounce rate, high visiting time, and increasing traffic.

1. Content is Still King

You may have heard the phrase, "Content is king" before. It's true. Without content, you have nothing. This is not enough. For a blog to be successful, you must have helpful content. Your readers must feel that by reading your blog, it gives them something useful. It needs to help them. Blogging is not ranting. This is a common pattern I see. While it's okay to rant, you can only do this once in a while IF you have a subscriber base.

If you are just starting out, do not rant. Post helpful content so that people will come back.

2. Break It Up

While having a good amount of content is your first goal, your second goal is to make your readers feel comfortable. If you have a guest visiting your home, what do you do? You make them feel comfortable. You ask them if they would like a drink. Tea, soda, coffee. Maybe something to eat or snack on.

The same principal goes towards online visitors. You are always selling something. Even if you do not get money, you are selling an idea. Your readers are the buyers.

The easiest way to make your reader feel comfortable is to break up your writing. What we've learned in grade school and high school is WRONG. Do not fill your paragraphs with 5-6 long sentences. In blogging, there is no such thing as an incomplete paragraph. Complete a thought and break it.

Line breaks help the readers. You see, when we read online, most of us SKIM through content. This is because we are impatient. We want to gist of the information NOW. It is your job to deliver the content with as much comfort as possible. Make lots of line breaks. Get to the point. Don't banter!

3. Semantics

Semantics are words. It is important to choose your words wisely. Some words can mean the same thing but invoke different emotions. For example, all new Wordpress blogs have a preset theme that carries over on many different themes. This includes the header, main content column, side column, and sometimes a second side column. On either of the side columns, there are sections that comes stock. Recent posts, Blogroll, Meta, and Categories.

A simple way to improve the quality of your blog is to change the names. The word "Posts" conveys the thought of a note. Something short and not valuable. Change "Posts" to "Articles". Articles have more intrinsic value than posts. Remove blogroll and/or meta if you desire. For "Categories", by simply changing the semantics to "Topics", you encourage more clicks. Topics sound more professional and more organized than "Categories".

It's the same meaning but these changes can noticeably increase your visiting time.

4. Design

Having a clean, professional design is very important. I've done an experiment where I left the content exactly the same and only changed the design. After I changed the design of one of my blogs, I noticed everything improved. I increased traffic, visiting time, and lowered my bounce rate.

There may be many reasons why but this is what I think. When someone visits a blog, just as we are judgemental in real life, we are also picky online. When we see an ugly page, we leave right away. It doesn't matter if the content is amazing. It's just the way it is. No one likes to look at something ugly. This is why you should make your blog clean and pretty.

Another reason my blog was improving may be the increasing number of "spam" blogs out there. Generic looking blogs are usually associated with spam and readers have gotten smart to that. If you blog looks generic, they will leave your page and the gem that is your content is hidden. By making your site look clean and professional, you invite readers to stay and "buy" you content just like a salesman would.

5. Interactivity

Having interactivity is a great way to improve your blog. You can invite people to be interactive in many ways. You can have readers opt-in a mailing list, join a forum, or post a comment.

I believe the best way to increase your blog is to entice readers to post comments. While you may get lots of spam, moderating you comments is easy enough. By having comments on your articles, this increases the "content" of your blog. A great way to get comments is to be clever and provoke discussions. Drama and controversy are good ways to get comments.

Conclusion

Those are 5 easy ways you can improve your Wordpress blog. Setting up a Wordpress blog is easy. All you need is a good host and you are good to go. Mistake are easy to make when it comes to blogging. Follow these step and be on you way to building a successful blogger!

Unless they have recently cghenad the requirements, it should not be a problem providing that she meets the eligibility required for her working visa. Different employers may require certain certifications, but with her experience, she sounds like she is very qualified. I've looked into it as I was considering moving there to teach as well. I wish her the best!As far as I know, New Zealand does not require a certificate unless they recently cghenad their requirementsReferences : Yoga teacher
