Usually people messing about two different word “Web Design” and “Web Development”. These are really different and close related words. Web design indicates the design of a website. On the other hand, web development indicates the dynamic property of a website. Some people introduce themselves as web developer who doesn’t have primary knowledge about web developing.
Web Design:
Wed design means to create external figure of a website. The main role of a web designer is to create a website template without using any application. Log in system, newsletter sign up, uploading file and saving it to database – these features can be created with web application. Web application may be unknown to a web designer. A webpage can be designed without these applications; such websites are called static websites.
You need to learn HTML, CSS, Photoshop, PSD to HTML and creating animation to be a good web designer.You need to spend around 6 month to learn Web design of you are a newbie.
Web Development:
Web development includes the knowledge of coding and application. To be a good web developer you need to learn at least client side programming language, server side programming language and minimum, a framework php. Code igniter, Zend framework, and symphony framework anything a web developer can learn. Oh, I have missed one important thing- database design. Creating database using SQL is very important for building a dynamic website. You may need 2-3 years to build yourself as an expert web developer.
How to Learn:
You can learn web design or, developing just by viewing online tutorial. Or, you can try YouTube video for learning website creating. The best way to create a website is to try a project. Try to build a website, blog or, forum using codes and applications; you must learn everything with time.
To recapitulate,we can say every web developer is a web designer, but every web designer is not a web developer. Web design is most demanded work in freelancing world. It’s importance is gradually increasing with the popularity of technology.
