Cast your vote for ASUS Eee PC 1000HE

Review the ASUS Eee PC

The ASUS Eee PC is probably one of the better netbooks. This mini laptop has the best battery life, and a good bit of storage for your files and documents. You'll find that the ASUS Eee is not only affordable but offers a number of features for such as small laptop. The 10 inch laptop is not going to be the perfect main, staple laptop, but it is a great option for on the go business and work, and when couple with a portable hard drive, you're going to be one happy customer.

Asus Eee PC Features

Battery Life

Most mini laptops have a poor battery life, but the ASUS Eee PC has a claimed 9.5 hour battery when unplugged and fully charged from the start, but some claim that 5.5 hours is the max you'll get. The Super Hybrid Engine has a high density , 8700mAh lithium ion battery, which manages power consumption depending on your needs.

You can even change the default setting to Auto Power-Saving mode with the Super Hybrid Engine Instant Key above the keyboard. By switching your settings, you can maximize the use of your battery.

Remember with the bigger battery, you'll experience a bulkier laptop when compared to those netbooks with less battery life and a smaller cell battery.

Intel Atom Processor

The ASUS Eee PC is powered by an Intel Atom N280 processor that uses 2.5 watts of power. Even though the processor is 1/10th the size of the processor in your normal desktop, it still offers much higher performance than some of the other net books with its 667MHz.

Plus, the ASUS Eee has a Hyper-Threading Technology which provides higher performance per watt, which increases system responsiveness and efficiency when multi-tasking.

Storage

The Eee has 160GB of internal hard drive space plus an exclusive 10GB file-encrypted Online Storage that allows you to store your files and documents so that you can get them on while anywhere. This is probably the best deal when it comes to storage space with any mini laptop.

Operation System

The ASUS Eee comes with Windows XP pre-installed, which is great as it supports Microsoft, but it means a smaller SSD drive.

Screen and Keyboard

The 10 inch screen has a nice widescreen display that features LED backlighting, which makes the screen much easier to see and view. Plus, with the LED backlit technology, it means the screen can be thinner, brighter, and more energy efficient.

For a netbook, the ASUS Eee PC has a nice 1024 x 600 resolution that allows you to view one page without needing to scroll left or right as much. This means, the Eee PC is that much more user friendly because seriously, how many times do you press the back button on your browser because the website calls for left or right scrolling?

As for the keyboard, it's 92% the size of an average keyboard, which means there is less adjustment to the ASUS mini laptop's keyboard, which again promotes user friendly features.

Touchpad

The ASUS Eee PC has an easy-to-use touchpad that allows you to scroll and zoom with just two fingers. It's wide surface is perfect for just about anyone to use.

Recovery System

There's a built-in recovery system so that all you have to do is press F9 three times during start-up in order to recovery your work.

Other Features

  • Built-in WiFi 802.11 b/g/n network.
  • Bluetooth V2.0
  • Ports: 3 USB, 1 VGA, 2 audio input/output, 1 RJ-45 port, 1 Kensington Lock port
  • MMC/SDHC/memory stick/MS-Pro flash card slot
  • Built-in 1.3MP webcam
  • Digital Array microphones

Warranty

The ASUS Eee PC comes with a 1 year parts and labor warranty, and if you find one defective bright dot within 30 days of purchase, the Zero Bright Dot Guarantee will replace the panel without any costs to you.

It is a great laptop. I have the 1000HA and while it isn't Quite up to the 1000HE I love it and use it for everything. I even write blogs and web site modifications when I'm out and about with it. Of course I'm a nut and have about 9 laptops but this is my favorite. If I wasn't afraid that my wife would be all over me if I got even another laptop this one would be my choice.

This one is one of the best netbooks. Macbooks are good laptops as well.

I use my mini laptop for on the go hubbing, emailing, and such

I was seriously look at this very netbook, but since I wanted a laptop and never had one before, I continued saving and just bought my first this week--a MacBook. Still learning the ropes, but it's a gas so far! I think a netbook would be great for travel for writing and emailing. My husband does a lot of music reviews, etc. so I think that will be our next acquisition. Nice hub!!

adam it's a great computer. I considered it when I purchased my mini.

G.G these are great netbooks for travelers so that you don't have to carry a full-sized laptop with you on vacation or business trips. But, yea they can be a bit pricey for just a secondary laptop.
