CNET's Best Mini Camcorders of 2009

2009 was the year of the Mini Camcorders. Mini Camcorders were popularized by the Flip, and many different pocket sized models have become available.

CNET's list of 'Best budget camcorders' (as of 12/7/2009) is provided here, in order from top to bottom, for your reference, along with some general comments about each:

1. Kodak Zi8 HD Pocket Video Camera - good video quality and features

2. Flip UltraHD - decent features and very good video quality for the price

3. Flip Video MinoHD - good video, simple

4. Canon FS200 - "one of the better standard-definition consumer camcorders available"

5. Kodak Zx1 HD Pocket Video Camera - stylish and rugged

6. Canon FS10 - convenient and well-designed

7. JVC Everio GZ-MS130 - "a nice little flash-memory-based standard-def camcorder"

8. Creative Vado HD - has nice features

9. JVC Everio GZ-MS120 - "a nice little flash-memory-based standard-def camcorder"

10. Kodak Zi6 - "attractive design and decent video quality adequately compensate for some usability drawbacks"

11. Sony Handycam DCR-SX41 - touch-screen LCD and good zoom, but not the greatest video quality

12. Sony Handycam DCR-SR47 - good zoom and easy operation, but not the greatest video quality
