The latest of the Canon EOS Rebel line, the T2i combines all the professional characteristics of EOS with a user friendly environment and a digital SLR that is light and a pleasure to operate.

Equipped with a state-of-the-art CMOS image sensor of 18 megapixels and improved light sensitivity for photography in reduced light, the new EOS Rebel T2i features also a highly developed High Definition Movie mode producing stunning movies in Full HD.

With its capacity of capturing until 3.7 frames a second, the Canon EOS Rebel T2i is always ready to shoot as soon as you pick it up. Thanks to its new wide-area monitor, the “Advanced Live View”, associated with the “Highlight Tone” and the “Auto Lighting Optimizer”, the new Rebel T2i renders dazzling pictures and movies in a simple way.

18.0-megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i features an image CMOS sensor of 18 megapixels which can capture photos of outstanding clearness and tonal range and provides also sufficient analysis for larger magnifications and crops.

This top class sensor offers most of the technologies found in professional Canon cameras in order to take advantage of the capacity of every pixel to gather light. Thanks to the size of its APS-C sensor, an efficient field of view of 1.6x is achieved (in comparison to the 35 mm formats).

DIGIC 4 Image Processor

The image processing unit Canon DIGIC4 accelerates considerably the whole process of the Canon EOS Rebel T2i in spontaneous operation and provides enhancements in the small details as well as in the reproduction of natural colors.

ISO 100-6400 (expandable to 12800) for shooting from bright to dim light

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i offers a wide selection in the ISO range giving the possibility to shoot pictures where normally a flash would have been required. The ISO ranging from 100 to 6400, with an extension to 12800, together with its image processing unit Canon DIGIC4 with an enhanced noise-reduction technology open a wide range in creation opportunities.

You can extend even further the shooting capabilities of photos and movies if you combine the Canon EOS Rebel T2i with Optical Image Stabilizer lenses from Canon like the EF or the EF-S.

Improved EOS Movie mode with manual exposure control

Built for well-informed users who want to expand their technique, the Canon EOS Rebel T2i privileges High Definition Video capture technology directly taken from the Canon SLR of the professional series which allows to record stellar video keeping the advantages to shoot with an SLR, like the manual exposure control which gives you more options in your creativity. Capturing videos with the Canon EOS Rebel Ti2 users take full advantage of the creativity features proper to SLR cameras. Together with the manual operations, the Canon EOS Rebel Ti2 offers the capacity to fully operate the Canon EF and EF-S lenses, as well as Fisheye and Macro, opening a wide selection of options in shooting which were previously only reserved to still photography.  

The results of the HD video are characterized by the exceptionality in the esthetic of its depth of field and the extraordinary capacity of capturing images in situations of reduced lighting. Also integrated, as an innovation in EOS cameras, you will find a Movie Crop mode which gives the possibility for example to crop a movie of SD quality (640 X 480) with a magnification of 7x of the normal capture.

You can shoot movies for many purposes at different frame rates and resolutions: 1920x1080 Full HD at 24, 25 or 30 fps until a capacity of 4 GB per movie. The format of the movies of the Canon EOS Rebel Ti2 is saved in MOV files and a HDMI output is available to view. The other capture resolutions are the HD 1280x720 (50/60 (59.94) fps) and the SD / VGA at 640x480 (50/60 (59.94) fps). An embedded microphone is also available for plain mono recording but you can use an autonomous external microphone for your stereo recordings.

Enhanced 63-zone, Dual-layer metering system, and 9-point AF system

An other new feature of the Canon EOS Rebel T2 is the 63 zones Dual Layer sensor. To achieve the highest accuracy level for optimum results, this new feature calculates the amount of light, color and brightness. Thanks to the color amount function of this measuring sensor, all the exposure and focus errors due to variation in light sources are almost eliminated. So the Canon EOS Rebel T2 offers a steady exposure for all the shots captured in light changing conditions like in sport events when cloudy or indoor holiday shots.

Moreover the Canon EOS Rebel T2 privileges a 9 point AF system which uses a high precision f/2.8 cross type center point. This AF system can be used in both normal and high precision focus according to the available light and aperture. The 9 focus positions can be selected manually and automatically.

Wide 3.0-inch (3:2 aspect ratio) Clear View LCD monitor

The 3.0” High Resolution Clear View LCD display of the Canon EOS Rebel T2 offers 1.04 million dots / VGA showing an extraordinary analysis. This monitor also keeps the same ratio of 3:2 of the camera sensor giving effortless and clear Live View production.

New Quick Control Screen button

The advanced layout button of the Canon EOS Rebel T2 has a special knob intended to instantly direct the camera to the Quick Control function which enables an easy navigation between all the available settings like Flah Exposure compensation, drive mode, image quality, ISO and many others.

3.7fps continuous shooting up to approximately 6 RAW or 34 JPEGs

The Canon EOS Rebel T2 has the capacity to shoot up to 3.7 fps for about 6 successive raw files or about 34 JPEG files in full resolution. The Canon EOS Rebel T2 can shoot at speeds that can reach 1/4000 of a second which gives the ability to easily shoot rapidly moving scenes.

New compatibility with SDXC memory cards

The new Canon EOS Rebel T2 can host both high capacity SDXC memory cards and high speed transfer Eye-Fi SD cards equipped with Wi-Fi transmitter (IEEE 802.11b/g). When you fit an Eye-Fi card in the Canon EOS Rebel T2 an easy connection status and error reports of the card is displayed and you can upload wireless your work directly out of the camera.

Compatible with the full line of Canon EF and EF-S lenses

All the lenses of the Canon EF line are compatible with the Canon EOS Rebel T2 as well as the EF-S light and compact lenses giving a large choice of lenses going from ultra wide angle to super telephoto lenses. The wide range of Canon lenses can truly enhance the performance and quality of the Canon EOS Rebel T2 and make it perfect for any type of photographer from sport to travel and fashion to still life.

Movie mode has full manual control, allows capture of up to 12 minutes of video per clip in HD, 24 minutes in SD
