Facebook or Hubpages?

Updated on March 29, 2012

This is a very good question. Being barely a month old hubber, I have to admit it dawned on me the other day that I was spending so much time on HubPages that it felt almost like checking my Facebook account! This was reinstated by the fact that the two constant pages open on my laptop were HP and FB! It is quite addictive and especially since I pledged my support for 30 Hubs 30 Days for March contest in the last week!

No excuses here, there are loads of things to do on HP. I was reading latest articles that were being posted, I was checking out answers , responding to some and making note of others to respond as Hubs (getting some great ideas for Hubs when all seemed lost!), I was looking for interesting hubbers to follow, reading up on all the truck load of material available on how to increase earnings, secret to making money, using Adwords, using RSS etc etc!

I mean, there is SO much to learn here, in this hub universe! It is truly amazing.

I don’t consider myself much of a writer but I think with discipline and practice, I can only hope to get better. Trying to see if writing is a forte or not? Earlier it was considered to be the art of only the intellectuals, the thinkers, the creative folks, but I think we might be re defining writers today.

Going back to FB versus HubPages – which do I prefer?

Well I like them both for what they are. One for a great way to be in touch with old friends and sharing your joys and life’s important moments (well, that is how I would like to see it and that is how I use Facebook). It will certainly mean a lot of different things for different individuals. HubPages on the other hand is firstly about ‘writing’ and a commonplace for writers to meet and interact and share their stories. So we have some common ground and some clear differences.

Also HubPage posts earn you cents to start off with and FB- nothing! (laugh)

On second thoughts, there is just way too much difference between the two, barring the fact that they are both networking sites where people post their views, cast their votes, vote up /Like and comment.

But nothing ever came close to Facebook as HubPages has for me and that is why this question caught my eye and I decided to pen my thoughts! Right now, I am addicted to HP for sure! I hope I can stay on, be clued in and keep myself going, more for improving my work and on the side make some small dollars. I take it seriously and everyday I put on my thinking cap on what shall we write about today!

I am seriously looking forward to the Apri Hub Editing challenge of editing your hubs, especially since I just started, better try and improvise sooner than later and I know I have a long way to go.

But I am thankful for the eventual hub scores I see and the number of page views too everyday, feels wonderful that so many folks out there actually care to click on your Hub, not sure how many actually read them !! But thats ok...I have miles to go before I sleep...

Your thoughts?

Have you ever felt HubPages was like Facebook?
