Fastest Gaming CPU 2013 5 Top Rated Processors Reviewed
In this hub we'll review some of the fastest CPU that are currently available 2013. These high-end to mid-level processors are meant for designers, engineers, gamers, or other high-end performance users.
2013 has been a good year for processors as in May Intel's fourth generation Haswell processors were released. This line incorporates a new level of dedicated graphics for Intel and brings solid boosts for multitasking performance.
From AMD we have a Q4 Kaveri release coming up as well as FX-9000 series processors release coming up later this year.
Best Performance Gaming CPU/Processors of 2013
One really nice feature from Intel's website is their "Processor Comparison" page which allows you to select multiple generations of processors and then highlights their differences. For the Intel CPUs that I've listed to the right I've included their specification comparison in the window to the right. You can also check out CPUbenchmark.net for additional benchmark data.
For the purposes of this hub I've decided to run this comparison on 5 of Intel's newest CPU the i7-3970x, 3930k, 4770k, 3770k, and i7-2700k with the i7-4770k being Intel's latest release.
The "fastest CPU" thus far in 2013 is the Intel Core i7-3970x which significantly improves performance by up to 40% over some previous extreme models.
Intel i7-3970x Extreme Processor
Specifications for the i7-3970x include 6 core power and hyper-threading that allows them to function as up to 12 cores (threads) when multitasking deems it necessary. This is extremely useful while using multiple applications, performance intensive software, or editing high definition movies.
The i7-3970x uses enthusiast socket 2011 motherboards and maintains the 32nm lithography. The 15MB of smart cache ensures that you always get maximum responsiveness from your PC. Though it has a base speed of 3.5Ghz the i7-3690x boosts up to 4GHz when performance mandates it.
Still not fast enough?
The i7-3970x is overclocker friendly meaning it was made to be pushed to the limits if you still need more power.
An strong alternative to the i7-3970x is the i7-3930k which gives you nearly as much performance for around 60% of the price. You could also consider Intel's new Haswell i7-4770k for about a third of the price which should give you pretty similar FPS in terms of gaming.
The fastest consumer CPU of 2013. If you're willing to pony up the cash, it's a beast.
A more moderately priced processor with most of the speed of Intel's i7-3970x and 3960x CPU.
Intel's new Haswell processors show moderate multitasking gains as well as impressive integrated graphics performance gains. Haswell will be ideal for portable devices.
AMD's Richland is the fastest APU on the market so far in 2013. Certainly Kaveri will provide an even better option and performance boost.
AMD's Piledriver improvements were impressive, but I think we'll see even better things from them this year with the FX 9000 series release. I'm hoping to see a challenge for Intel's higher end CPU.

Intel i7-4770k Processor
If you don't have a grand to dish out for your CPU, then consider the Intel i7-4770k which features four core power with up to 8 threads with Intel Hyper-threading technology. The i7-4770k's 4 cores have 3.5GHz of processing power that boost up to 3.9GHz using Intel's Turbo Boost Technology whenever your PC needs the extra power. In addition the 4770kk is fully "unlocked" for overclocking in order to achieve faster performance. Users have reported stable overclocking of 4.5Ghz.
While it's not the "fastest CPU" in the market today it is in the top 10. The i7-4770k scores nearly as high as other processors 3 times its price and higher than many other much more expensive processors below it. Source: CPUbenchmark.net
Still too expensive?
If the i7-4770k is still too expensive for your budget, then go with the i5-4670k which for 2/3 of the price provides much of the same fps while gaming.
Fastest AMD CPU
The fastest AMD CPU model is the AMD FX-8350, but we'll certainly see better performance when AMD releases its 9000 series later this year.
I hope you've enjoyed this hub on the fastest CPU for 2013. If you have, then please bookmark it for future use as I update my hubs every couple of months. Also, please feel free to use the comment section if you find a faster processor.
