Finding The Best Apps For Droid

The Droid

It took me a while (probably about two months if you want to be precise) to finally upgrade my low tech Motorola cell phone for the Droid.

My husband wanted to give it to me for Mother's Day but I kept wavering for a few more weeks and ended up getting it right before Father's Day.

This phone is so cool! This might mean that I'm a little bit of a geek wannabe because I absolutely love turning it on and hearing "Droid"

But as cool as the Droid is you're going to want to customize it, and that of course means apps. When it comes to apps for your Droid you're going to find quite a few to choose from and if you've had a smart phone before you may already have favorites but if like me you're a relative newbie then you can use all the help that you can get finding the best apps for Droid.

Kindle App For Droid

Kindle For Android

One of my favorite apps would have to be the free Kindle app which was just released a few days ago. Now you can access your Kindle books from anywhere even if you don't have your Kindle with you.

Don't own a Kindle, well that's no problem either, all that is required is for you to download the free kindle app which you can find on Amazon or in the market place on your Droid.

Music For Your Droid

If you would like to add music to your Droid don't forget to check out the mp3 downloads on Amazon. And while you're at it be sure to check out Pandora. This app which is available for free in the market place allows you to stream music on your Android phone. To get started just enter the name of your favorite song or artist and Pandora will create a station that plays their music and others like it.

Google Maps

Google Maps is another must have app for your Droid, with its turn by turn navigation this is one app that will make you wonder how you ever lived without it. But what makes it even better is the fact that its completely free.

Dolphin Browser

If you're not happy with the generic web browser, that came with your Droid then be sure to check out the updated Dolphin Browser in the market place.

Antivirus For Droid

When you think about it Smartphones are in fact mini-computers so of course it makes sense that you're going to need antivirus protection for your Droid. There's a free antivirus available in the marketplace that seems more than adequate for this.  At this point there doesn't seem to be a lot of problems with viruses but you never know when that might change.

Shop Savvy Barcode Scanner

This is one handy little app that you're sure to use again and again. Just aim the camera at a barcode and wait for the beep. Shop Savvy will then provide you with local and online prices for the product.

Weatherbug App

Keep up to date on the forecast, current conditions, sever weather alerts and more with the weatherbug android app. This app is available for $1.99 in the market place or you can get the free version which is supported by ads.
