LowePro SlingShot Camera Bag Review - Over the shoulder, ready to go
Packed with features without being too large
LowePro SlingShot 100 AW - Reviews and User Tests
After purchasing my new Panasonic Lumix G2 micro four thirds camera, and a few lenses like the Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 Aspheric G- Series Lens I needed a bag to carry all of my gear around.
After making the decision to purchase a micro four thirds camera for its compact size over a full blown DSLR, I knew didn't want some huge camera bag weighing me now. I also wanted something to take hiking and something that would give me hands free control to handle the camera or perhaps my dog Tiki who is often my companion on photo hunts. I checked out all the bags at BestBuy and discounted the small compartment type bags that I consider more like a closet bag. You know for someone who gets into photography for a little while and then puts it away in the closet and buys a point and shoot?
Anyway one of my best discoveries was the SlingShot line from LowePro. I've always liked the quality of LowePro bags. I have a large backpack bag from my youthful "Ansel Adams" days when I was hauling around a large format 4x5 press camera and heavy wooden tripod. It was a great bag and was in shape enough to haul around such a large amount of camera gear.
This SlingShot bag is an entirely different animal. It's a compact over the shoulder bag designed for quick and easy access to your main camera and two backup lens plus accessories. The unique design allows the photographer to access his gear without sitting the bag down. Basically LowePro designed this with input from photojournalists and had quick moving photographers in mind when it was created.
The bag has plenty of compartments for accessories like extra batteries, cables, adapters and even things like a cell phone and granola bar. LowePro also includes its patented "All Weather Cover" in case it starts raining or you need some protection from blowing sand or whatnot.
One really cool feature for backpackers I think is the integrated tripod holder. Unlike my heavy, full sized wooden tripod with heavy metal fittings, a nice small carbon fiber tripod or mono pod would fit in the tripod holder nicely and be great for low light conditions.

Finding the Best Price on the LowePro SlingShot Line of Camera Bags
Like I said before, I checked out the bags in person at my local BestBuy but I ended up buying my bag through a dealer on Amazon. I saved about $30 including shipping by purchasing my LowePro SlingShot bag online.
Besides the LowePro SlingShot 100 AW (all weather), there are also larger versions in this series of camera bags from LowePro including the SlingShot 202 AW and the SlingShot 102 AW.
