How To Easily Start A Blog

Starting A Blog

If you are new to blogging and want to get in on the action then take a look at the steps below to get you going on the right path.

You need to decide if you are going to host the blog on your own domain or use one of the free blogging sites. This decision may depend on the objective of the blog, is this just for a small community of friends or do you want to try and build your blog up and make money from blogging.

If you think your blog will appeal to a huge audience then you may want to consider registering a domain and having your blog hosted on that domain. This obviously costs money. There are lots of providers out there to offer hosting, so don’t expect to pay more than $100 per year for domain hosting.

The best approach maybe to start small with a free blog hosting account and then if things take off then look at taking it to the next level.

For the rest of this article I will use Wordpress (www.wordpress.org) as the example, but there are lots of other providers out there will similar features and functionality.

Wordpress will allow you to use their site for a free blog. Regardless if you use your own domain or go with a free hosting the ease of using Wordpress is very much geared to users with not too much technical experience. You can have something up and running very quickly.

The concept is that Wordpress is a framework that allows you to quickly build pages and add posts to your blog. It allows for lots of graphic and user look and feel flexibility.

There are lots of ‘themes’ that are ready made that can be plugged into your blog. So making your blog’s images and look reflect the topic is pretty easy. Once you have Wordpress up and running you will see the options of adding themes.

Once you have the basics setup then start posting!  There are numerous tutorials and books out there on Wordpress, it will open up a whole new world. Good Luck.
