Check how many pages of my website are indexed by Google, Yahoo and Bing

How many pages of my website are indexed in Google, Yahoo and Bing?

Since search engines provide long term organic traffic it is important to get your webpages or blog pages indexed by them. It's easy to check how many pages of your website are indexed in the major search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing.

How to check indexed pages in Google

Checking indexed pages in Google is as easy as typing the following in the engine's search bar:

site:mydomain.xyz

This will result in a list of all the web pages of your site that have already been indexed by Google. Look at the total number of search results for the exact number of indexed pages.

How to check indexed pages in Yahoo

It's just as easy to tell how many pages of your web site or blog are indexed by Yahoo. In the search engine, type the following and hit the search button.

site:mydomain.xyz

This provides a list of each of the pages currently indexed by Yahoo. You'll see the number of results to the left.

How to check indexed pages in Bing

As you would expect, it's similarly very easy to check the number of your indexed pages in Bing. In the Bing search bar, type the following.

site:mydomain.xyz

This will get you the list of the webpages or blog pages currently indexed by Bing as well as the total number of search results.

Also, here's a little application called Microsoft Silverlight 4, that you can install on your Windows system and it will tell you a lot about your site from what Bing knows.

There is also an interesting thing going on around Bing and Yahoo. They have made sort of an alliance to develop their search engine capabilities together. What this means is that in the near future Yahoo will start displaying Bing's search results and completely discard its own rankings. So if you rank well with Yahoo, but badly with Bing at the moment, it might be time to start worrying. Bing and Yahoo together make up over 35% of the search market, meaning the time has come when they are not to be neglected anymore. You can make your life easier if you submit your site to Bing along with an xml sitemap if you have one.

I followed the directions for Google and came back with 5,100 results...highly unlikely since I only have 40 hubs...what did I do wrong?

Only the first 4 results were actually mine while the rest were oddball sites or other hubs with my name on them from comments. But when I check my traffic sources at HP I get a fairly high number from Google (more than I get from all my wonderful followers at HP). Im so confused...

Hi Ardie! I had to edit the hub and correct the directions for Google. I think you have to type this: site:ardie.hubpages.com/hub to check for indexed hubs and it will yield 40 results. The /hub part is because all the hubs on HP are on that path meaning that it's inserted in the urls of all hubs.

Thanks for fixing it :) I used the nathopia.com site and it popped up my stuff. I'm very glad to know all my hubs are indexed (except for 2 from Yahoo...oh, well). Im horrible at understanding the tech side of hubbing. I just write and hope it earns!!

Most of the time I just make sure the keywords are in the right places. What I find is that about 10% of what I do will be successful, 40% will yield clicks every now and then and the rest will have been a waste of time as far as earnings go. On the other hand, every single hub idea is worth giving a shot, because you never know which one will stick. It's great that you get fairly high traffic from Google as compared to HP, because that's the kind of traffic that pays. HP traffic is just nice to have as it's nice to know that your fellow hubbers are checking you out. :)

I don't research keywords so my success is VERY hit and miss. And I'm torn. I want to write just to write but I also want to write to earn. I love my followers from HP because they make me feel like I belong. I don't have anyone around me physically who enjoys writing or reading as much as I do. It's nice to find people with a common passion.

I feel the same way. So mostly I write just to write and imagine that there are actual keywords in it. No one really gets my love of writing, so I tell them never mind I write because of the money. THAT they will understand. I've tried to get my bother to join HP, but he's just too busy playing computer games, so he cannot be bothered. Also, we are like fire and water, fire being him and water being me. I love my followers for the same reason. Here you can belong as long as you don't leave the premises. Unfortunately, most of my best buddies have left.

Most of my best hubber buddies have left too. But I have found them on Facebook again and now I'm making new hubber buddies
