How to Activate Globe Roaming to Use Abroad and Outside the Philippines
If you want to activate your Globe sim for roaming abroad, you can now do this easily without needing assistance from Globe customer’s support. The steps are discussed in this page. Many OFWs prefer using Globe sim card and use Globe International Roaming services while they are outside the Philippines to save lots of load and money. Getting in touch with your loved ones has never been this easy via SMS, text and call.
Globe prepaid roaming activation is as easy as a text message. For postpaid users, you can also activate your roaming by going to the Globe Centers and let them do it for you. It’s free. Or you can just call Globe hotlines anytime. For now, I’m going to discuss how to activate roaming for prepaid users and subscribers for OFWs, and Filipinos abroad and globally.
Globe Roaming Activation Requirements:
You will need the following:
- At least P100 pesos load
- Your phone
Take note that you need to maintain certain amounts to keep your roaming services active and working for you. For SMS and text, you must maintain at least P25 load to keep on sending and texting within your roaming time. For calls, you must keep at least P80 otherwise your call will not proceed.
How to activate?
Just type GROAM ON (mm/dd/yyyy) (number of days) and send to 2884
Example: GROAM ON 08/15/2012 60
You will then receive a confirmation message once your roaming is activated. Activation is free. Yay! And oh remember that roaming activation is best done at least 24 hours before your departure or before you leave the Philippines.
My sister’s roaming was activated the day before her flight to Canada. Now, she is freely texting us like before. Skype helps too if you’re not into so much texting and using your Globe sim number to communicate.
Some more countries that allow prepaid roaming are the following:
Reactivate your Roaming if Disconnected
For some instances that your Globe roaming was disconnected, you can activate it again by contacting and calling the special Roaming Hotline from Globe at +63917211 or +6327301212. No charge if you’re using a mobile phone but you will get charged if you’re using a landline for this.
Globe roaming if you went back to the Philippines
If you went back home in the Philippines, you must turn your roaming OFF and deactivate it. Don’t worry, you will receive a message once you set foot in the Philippines again as a reminder.
How to activate Globe roaming if you’re abroad and outside the Philippines?
Recently, I sent my sister a new iphone 4s in Canada when a friend went there. The phone was brand new and so was the micro sim. When my sister received it, she asked me to activate its roaming. I went to the Globe Center in SM the next day and one of the staff, activated it in just a minute. I also loaded it with P150 just to make sure. By the way, the activation was free. The next day, she texted me already.
