Has Your Phone Dropped In To Water? How To Fix It!
When I was 8 months pregnant and my husband was on a business trip, my 1 year old son decided to have my phone go for a swim in the dog's water bowl. I don't know how long it was in there, but it was my only form of communication outside of the computer.
The first thing I did, was I took the battery off the back of my cell phone. I took my cell phone apart as much as I could and I dried it out with a towel.
I put it back together to see if that fixed it and it didn't even turn on. I had to get it working again. I needed a phone and I was still under contract for the phone.
It would cost a lot to replace the phone. I needed to find a way to fix my water damaged cell phone quickly and cheaply.
I had to get it working again, so I looked up a few tips on the internet and I was able to get it working normal again in one week!
Repair Your Water Damaged Phone With Rubbing Alcohol!
I have not tried this, but I found the video (at the top of this article) that shows that rubbing alcohol can dry out the water damage in your cell phone.
I know that rubbing alcohol is a drying agent, so it makes sense that this works. Rubbing alcohol is very cheap. I normally see it for around $1 a bottle at the store. It is works, it is a very cheap fix!
To fix your water-damaged cell phone with 99% rubbing alcohol and submerge your cell phone for a few hours. It should work after that!
If this trick does not completely get rid of the water damage in your cell phone, try the rice trick for fixing your water-logged cell phone.
Repair Your Water Damaged Phone With The Rice Trick!
To repair your water damaged cell phone, use rice! Fill a container with dry rice, remove the battery from your phone and towel dry the inside of the phone and the battery as well as you can, then submerge the cell phone in the rice.
This could take a few hours to a few days. My phone had been in the dog's water bowl for a while before I found it and it already had a crack on it, so I had to keep my phone in the rice for almost a week before it worked like normal again.
I know some people put the rice and phone into a bowl, but I put my water-logged phone and the rice into a Ziploc bag. I would put it on the dryer when I was doing laundry to help speed up the process. On sunny days, I would put the bag of rice with the phone in it onto my back porch. The heat seemed to help speed up the drying process. Word of caution: Make sure the phone doesn't get too hot because the insides could fry, so check on it regularly to make sure it is not getting too hot.
I checked my cell phone by turning it on each day while it was in the rice and each day it got a little better. The second day my cell phone was in the rice, I checked it and it turned on, but the screen was bright and blank.
The third day, I turned y cell phone on to check it and I could start to see very faint words on the screen.
Every day after that, I would turn my phone on and the words would get darker and more readable until finally, after almost a week, it was working back to normal again!

Cell Phone Water Damage Indicator
When your cell phone sustains water damage, the phone company will know because there are water damage indicators in the cell phone. You can find the water damage indicators on the battery and in the cell phone.
When the cell phone does not have any water damage, the cell phone water damage indicators will be white with red x's across them.
When the cell phone sustains water damage, the red x's will bleed into the white areas and make them either pink or red.
If the cell phone companies see that either water damage indicator is no longer white, they will not fix it or exchange it.
I know there are a few places on the internet where you can buy new water damage indicators, but I wouldn't recommend it.
