It has been my experience that you cannot use POP access or mail forwarding with Yahoo unless you sign up for a Yahoo! Plus Account, which is $20 I guess. I just tried doing this for a friend that doesn't want to switch to gMail (which I highly recommend doing) unless he can get all his old mails at his new gMail account. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but Yahoo is the only eMail provider that I know of that charges for POP and Forwarding.

Check it out, it's not available unless you pay:

I thought they dropped that requirement?! I definitely don't pay for Mail Plus, and that option seems to exist for me. Maybe it's because I get my DSL from AT&T/Yahoo?

Wow, I don't know. Did you get your eMail address through AT&T Yahoo too?

My email with Yahoo predates my DSL service through them, but there might be an automatic semi-upgrade if you do. Not sure.

Jonno.Norton 8 years ago

That could be. It would be very generous of them at that. Do you think the hub needs to be updated?

Hey Jonno - you're right. A friend who doesn't have DSL through AT&T Yahoo said that she couldn't forward her mail. I've added a note at the top of the Hub.

IF only I'd known the truth about email, yahoo and the internet as early as 1968 I MIGHT BE a rich jerk but as of now I'm a poor jerk.

I live in New England where our DSL provider was Verizon, and the POP/Forwarding directions here worked for us. Then, this weekend, Fairpoint Communications officially took over DSL service, and are not extending the partnership with Yahoo. As a result, our yahoo email addresses which were linked to our Verizon accounts were "unlinked" and since then I can't access my email via Thunderbird email client. Looks like I will finally be making the switch to Gmail (had no issues with Yahoo since I was able to use an email client program with it up til now)

I just moved all my old e-mails from my yahoo to gmail with their new move application. It will continue to get the new yahoo e-mail for a month. I am forwarding all my gmail to Thunderbird including my old yahoo emails. I recommend you try it. I even got my contacts into my gmail account.

My friend had done it free with yahoo classic, nine months ago. and it's working properly. But, I surprise to see that, there is no option for email forwarding from Yahoo to Other email I.d.

The forwarding option is not available now.

While the world is progressing Yahoo is going back to stone age!

ass mentioned that yahoo account with mailplus can.

First of all, Yahoo’s new mail service doesn’t support forwarding yet! So what you have to do is, go back to classic version. Then follow this …

Go to here:

Option -> POP Access and Forwarding

I wanted to forward the mails that I'm still getting from an old yahoo account to a new yahoo account. I don't want to pay for Mail Plus.

This is what I did:

I have a Gmail account, so from the gmail settings under "import from another email address" I filled the old yahoo account and pass to import all my mails and contacts and the mail that I will be receiving in the future. After that I went to "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab and under "Add a forwarding address " I filled my new yahoo email account.

Nice little surprise for me when I tried to forward three of my yahoo accounts to Windows Live Mail. $20? Well, it's going to be hell informing all my contacts, but I'm moving to a more pliable service.
