Who is Martha Payne?

Get this, Martha Payne is a 9 year old schoolgirl from Scotland with guts. She and her father had guts to take on the establishment and WIN for common sense.

At the tender age of 9 she decided to be bold and to start a Blog about her daily lunchtime meals at school, purely because her class was given an assignment to start writing about a topic which happens everyday in their lives. When she started it she had no idea the controversy which would unfold surrounding this everyday occurence.Well at 9 you wouldn't, would you?

So she discussed and came up with the idea with the help of Dad, David. She used his e-mail address to set up her Blog via Google's Blogging platform. A free to start service and so was ideal for Martha to start her Blogging career.

Listen to what her Dad has to say about her Blog as he was interviewed by the BBC in Scotland.

NeverSeconds in the headlines.

Major British newspapers reported on the story of Martha's NeverSeconds Blog and it was a headline in one of those newspapers which sparked the row leading to Argyll and Bute Council banning Martha from taking photographs of her school meals. She obviously hit a raw nerve. Thankfully though, the leader of the Council eventually saw sense and backed down.

Award winning Blog.

Already an award winning Blog in the eyes of top Chef Jamie Oliver. Praise indeed.

If you read all about Martha's Blog it will not surprise you why she is receiving accolades such as this one. Her target to raise £7,000 has been smashed and surpassed on a massive scale. At the time of writing this article donations had reached in excess of £109,000!

What an incredible achievement. Can you believe that her local council tried to ban her from taking pictures of her school dinner? It is good to report that common sense prevailed and she was allowed to continue with the Blog as part of her school assignment.

Not only has celebrity Chef Jamie Oliver shown his support for Martha's Blog but another celebrity Chef Nick Nairn invited Martha to judge a competition he was running and she got to meet him and spend some time with him. Read the article on the web site Hotel and Caterer

Like me Nick thinks she is pretty amazing and also shares my view that she has taken on the establishment and has come away from it in victory. A victory for the people of Scotland and the rest of the world and you don't see enough of that in today's society.

Martha Payne finds her voice through her Blog NeverSeconds

Give us your thoughts on this question.....

Do you think it was right that Martha should have been allowed to carry on with her Blog?

See results without voting

The NeverSeconds philosophy is......

a philosophy we should all take on board. Martha is dedicated to helping others less fortunate than herself and she has found a vehicle to do just that. It is for this reason that I decided to write this article in the hope that in some small way I can help her cause. As you can see she is doing a fantastic job herself and probably doesn't need me to help promote her work, but we all want to help others and if one person makes a donation to her charity as a result of this, then it will have been worth it.

You see this fits in with my own philosophy of helping as many people to become successful in order for me to become successful. I have written about this many times and I strongly believe that we first have to help others to get what they desire before we can get what we desire.

A worthy charity.

Why not join me in raising money for this worthy cause. I am inspired by the work of Martha Payne through her Blog http://neverseconds.blogspot.co.uk/ that I have decided to join her in her quest.

Beautiful story - Big Hug to Martha. I heard about it a while ago and they wouldn't let her blog. I thought it was the School, but your Hub clarifies that it's the Council. I feel (as a Teacher) kids should be encouraged, if they have a Passion for something. So nice that Jamie O got involved too,

Thanks - It's nice to read a full story about it.
