Updated on November 9, 2011

PowerShot ELPH 300 HS

Awesome 2011 Compact Digital Camera

The Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS is an awesome compact digital camera that came out in 2011, its stylish, its very functional, easy to use, and it fits in your pocket like a deck of cards. I decided to buy a Canon Powershot ELPH 300 HS digital camera a few months ago in the summer of 2011 and I have been so happy with the camera, I decided that I would write a Review on the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300HS.

Throughout this article I will mention some of the positive features that I find to be very useful in the camera industry. I cannot really identify too many flaws in the camera, because I am really happy with it. With that being said, I will start by describing the exterior build of the camera.

The Exterior of The Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS

The Exterior of the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS feels very solid, I remember the store mentioning that it has an aluminum frame rather than plastic because it makes it stronger and more durable. The camera comes in Red, Black, and silver and the grip is fantastic. It's hard to describe but when you feel the outside of the camera - it is very grippy and the outside has a texture to it that is smooth but at the same time it kind of reminds me of a sand-like texture. I rate the exterior a 10 out of 10 because the camera feels very sturdy and the buttons are positioned in a very simplistic manner, which makes the camera easier to use. I would also like to mention that the buttons feel very firm and sturdy which tells me that these buttons will not get worn out or stick after prolonged use over time.

The Small Camera That Can Shoot HD Video

When it comes to taking high quality HD pictures and recording HD videos, this camera gets the job done and more! Recording HD videos is extremely easy and only requires the press of a button, the red record button to the right of the display screen. I am using a 16 GB SD Card now and it allows me to record plenty of video in HD and take plenty of pictures with the 12.1 Megapixel camera.

The Canon ELPH 300 HS also allows you to change the resolution of your pictures if you want to take more pictures and use less space on your SD card that stores your pictures. You can also change the resolution of the video to a few other settings that will use less memory on your SD card.

The Resolution of the Pictures

The resolution of the pictures is incredible the 12.1 megapixel digital camera also has high sensitivity CMOS features that allow you to capture moments even when they are in motion and you will notice that when you take pictures in AUTO mode - the camera automatically focuses on the primary objects or people that are in the picture. This allows you to take breathtaking photo's at the press of a button.

This Digital Camera's Interface Is Simple To Use

The interface of this digital camera is so easy to use and its very easy to change settings so that your pictures come out exactly the way you would want them to be. Once you are in the interface, you can press the Func.Set button and change image dimensions by adjusting the height and width of the picture, you can easily turn of flash, change the picture settings for sunsets, dark environments, indoor pictures, beach pictures, portrait pictures and so much more. You can easily change the exposure settings, and change the LCD brightness on the camera by going to settings, change the still image aspect ratio, set a timer for your camera to take pictures, set and adjust the ISO speed, change the compression, and change image and video quality resolution.

It is also worth mentioning that it is very easy to import pictures to your computer, even if you don't have the Canon photography software that comes with the camera. I can easily import photos by plugging my camera into the computer and iPhoto recognizes the camera and allows me to select which photo's I would like to import to my hard drive.

The camera also comes with wiring that allows you to hook the camera up to your computer and TV so that you can watch videos that came from your camera and put them on your television screen.
