Review of the Seal Shield Washable Keyboard

Updated on September 17, 2012

We recently purchased a Seal Shield Wireless Washable Keyboard, model number s103w, for our home computer. The primary user of the keyboard is my husband's son who is special needs. He loves to play games and surf YouTube for videos, and his keyboard was taking quite a beating from lots of use during meal times. We needed a keyboard that was waterproof and washable, so this was the one we picked.

The keyboard is perfect for our needs. It is a standard size including a number pad, hot keys for the internet, email, and control buttons for movies and volume levels. It is wireless and has a low profile so it can be easily pushed under the monitor or desk to make more space. The keyboard communicates with the computer through a USB receiver that is very small and easily hidden on the back side of the computer. Setting up the keyboard was a breeze--the keyboard is powered by 2 AA batteries that are included, so you just install the batteries, plug in the receiver to an available USB port, and you'r ready to type.

The best feature, obviously, is that is is water proof and dishwasher safe. You can just pick it up and drop it in a sink of soapy water or run it through the dishwasher along with your nightly dishes. This product is great for families that have a shared or high traffic computer because germs and bacteria can easily be washed away where they would normally just build and grow on a conventional keyboard. There are no parts to remove before washing, even the batteries are safe inside,.

If you work from home or are a stay at home mom, you probably eat and drink at your computer through out the day. Every computer user will destroy a keyboard at some point from a spilled beverage. This keyboard is a great investment so you no longer have to waste money replacing keyboards.

The Pros to a Seal Shield Washable Keyboard

  1. Cut down on germs and bacteria by washing the entire keyboard frequently
  2. Don't have to worry about spills and dribbles
  3. Great for families with special needs or with small children
  4. Totally waterproof and dust proof
  5. Etched keys won't fade with frequent washing
  6. Low cost investment--our keyboard was $49.99 USD
  7. The whole family can use the keyboard
  8. Batteries are included
  9. Simple, fast set up
  10. No parts to remove or close before washing
