Sex Offenders in Michigan Evicted From MySpace

Sex Offenders Kicked Off MySpace

Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox furnished MySpace with a list of names on the state's sex offender registry which MySpace used to evict 200 individuals from the social networking website. The MySpace site can be continuously updated as names are added to the state's sex offender registry. However, officials from MySpace and Cox's office acknowledged that there are ways to get around the protections with fake names and changed email addresses.

Thomas Lazar, an attorney who represents dozens of sex offenders expressed the hope that the state would "would tweak the law" to take into account people like his clients who no longer have a sex offense on their record but will be on the registry for at least 25 years. "They lump these really bad guys right next to a 17-year-old who slapped a girl on the ass on a bus. they don't make any distinctions in Michigan," Lazar said. "And now they are stuck on the registry. They can't get a job. They can't get an apartment. They can't get anything."

Their Facebook friendship raises alarms, police say

FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER|A 19-year-old Detroit man is in Detroit Police custody for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl he met on Facebook, police said today.

The arrest came after the girl's mother opened her daughter’s bedroom closet late Sunday night and found a surprised set of eyes staring back: a 19-year-old man whom she had discouraged her daughter from seeing.

“I said, ‘Who are you?!’ and he looked at her,” the 32-year-old mother said today of her daughter, who was sitting on a bed across the room.

Nineteen-year-old Donald Hunter was being held at Wayne County Jail as prosecutors approved a warrant charging him with two felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, punishable by up to 15 years in prison, Detroit Police spokesman John Roach said tonight....

As her mother spoke, the girl softly called the man her first boyfriend.

“(I hope) I get blamed for it and he don’t go to jail,” the quiet teen said...

Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans said in a statement that “an iron-clad condition” of a child being allowed to use the Internet should be for the parent to know the passwords to their child’s e-mail and social networking accounts.

He is more then welcome to go to my space, if he ever messes with the members of my family or friends, It is a space which I have reserved for such maggots as this, it is about fourteen miles from me, it measures approximately 6ft. by three ft. and lies somewhere to the north side of potter's field. He will get his own number, and a chance to create all the bones he wants, without harming the living breathing innocent that he was once so drawn to....~~~~~~MFB III

The net can be a totally scarey place. The first pic is so true. It is so hard to know who you are talking to on the net. Especially when you know this sort of thing happens so much.
