Speech Recognition Software - Dragon Naturally Speaking Version 11.5

Dragon Speech Recognition Software

Dragon speech recognition software is a great tool for Authors who write online as it can add another way of creating written content without much typing, although there are certain things that need to be ironed out with this type of software and that's the ability to iron out the errors that happen when the software tries to pick up your speech and then translates it wrong giving you the wrong wording in printed text, but this is an amazing software tool that enhances your writing and content empires online.

Installing the software is very straight forward as you are guided through the process like any other piece of computer software and all you need to do is enter your product serial number to register the product and also optionally sign up for any updates as and when they happen.

After you have installed the software you are then given the chance to optimize your speech recognition software to your own voice and I recommend doing this step so that you start off with this software on the right track as Dragon Naturally Speaking actually learns and adapts to your voice over time so it's well wroth doing everything right to start with. The newer 11.5 version of Dragon you can use to update your Facebook Status or Twitter stream and so far I've tested it in a few search engine browsers and word processors including here at Hubpages and Wizzley and it works fine.

The only frustrating thing is you have to have a decent amount of space on your computer for it to gather all of your profile information and that is basically all of your speech patterns and the way you pronounce certain things and any words the software had trouble deciphering. If say you are low on memory then your software will not capture sentences or even display any text and having to repeat things over and over defeats the reason behind owning this type of software, so do make sure you have all the required memory space for this software to work properly.

I've been using this software for awhile now and it has adapted more to my voice than it did to start with as it now recognises words that it previously didn't and speaking slowly and clearly helps a lot when using this computer tool. The microphone headset that was included with the software was a bonus that I didn't expect and it has some noise cancellation on it too which helps to focus on your voice rather than anyone else's say if you were in a busy office or journeying a dull commute to work on a train or bus.

Once you get past all of the building of your speech recognition profile and the computer software gets used to you and your voice then it becomes a far more productive tool and one that does take a bit of getting used to with learning all of the many different commands you can give to the program.

Browsing the web with this software is quite cool, but the novelty does wear off very quickly as you can say what you want to search for in the browser search bar and it will do that.

It sure does make you wonder what else they will come up with next as this technology just seems so cool to recognize your own voice and distribute it as text on the page. Highly recommended though for Business and anyone who writes a lot online as you can type your article content and then give your fingers a rest and talk your articles onto the screen and then edit at a later time!

Speech recognition software has come a long way since they first came out. Today they are more practical and seem to have generated a lot of positive response. I am aware of many workplaces where similar products are used to do away with typing manually. At just over $30 on Amazon, Dragon Naturally Speaking seems to be decently price for the key-less browsing and typing experience it promises.

I'm sure someone will find this review helpful in deciding whether to actually spend the money and buy a speech recognition software or not. I'm sharing it with friends and followers.

Yeah Rebecca, the more you speak into the software the better it recognizes your voice and improves with time....I've been using mine for a month nearly now and it is way better now than when I first used it. Plus it's helped me realise that I mumble certain words, so I can try and improve my own way of speaking.

After reading this hub, I'll have to give it a go again. I think I wasn't clear enough- mine was "introduction" but the software said "into action" and I admit I got frustrated, but I'll have to try it more.

It certainly is a good piece of software and the more you use it the more the software adapts to your voice, recognizing more words and your own individual speech! cheers now!

I know little of this software, but know more after reading the hub. My wife has recently purchased this and it will be interesting to see how well it works out for her. I have seen her using it to some degree, and it appears to be quite useful. Great hub! Voted up, interesting and useful.
