Microsoft SBS RWW The wizard cannot configure the Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) settings

Updated on August 3, 2011

The wizard cannot configure Remote Desktop Connection settings. Make sure that the client version of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 6.0 or later is installed on

If you have ever come across and error message like this it can be really frustrating to solve, however if your as determined as I am to solve it then it just takes patience. So perhaps you have already tried all the usual issues such as the Regsvr32 MSTSCAX.DLL trick and the adding the website to your Trusted Sites list. Well I created this HUB in the hope that I can get this fix close to the top of Google as possible because it is no where to be found on the internet other than this thread on microsoft: The wizard cannot configure Remote Desktop Connection settings. Make sure that the client version of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 6.0 or later is installed on this computer.which is my question that was answered by Duncan.

So what had I done. Changed Timeout Settings for Remote Web Workplace.

So I was asked by my users to change the timeout setting of the Remote Web Workplace page so that when they were using Outlook Web Access they did not have to keep logging in again after 30 minutes.

So how did I do that, well I followed the tutorial on this Microsoft page: To change the server time-out setting for Remote Web Workplace. Now I probably should have read the tutorial closely because it clearly mentions.

Important

The value you enter should not be larger than 1440. Otherwise, Connect to a computer and Connect to a server will not function properly.

So I have changed the setting to what I thought was 12 Hours (720 Minutes) but what I had of course done was set it to 720 in Hexadecimal which was equal too about 1800 minutes. So all I had to do was change it to 720 Decimal and it started working straight away. Why Microsoft insists on having Hexadecimal as the default setting for registry entries I don't know.

If you require any assistance with this issue you can find my details on my webpage One IT Ltd - Windows Cloud Hosting and IT Specialists.
