TomTom Features

Updated on August 18, 2013

TomTom Feature List

When choosing a GPS unit it can be so confusing. Many of the features sound good but just exactly what do they do? Are the same features available on other GPS units? How much will I use the features that cost the most? These are the features found on the TomTom GPS units with a description of what they are and what they do for you.

As of April 2008 there are a few new additions that will be added to the TomTom lineup. The TomTom 930 and the TomTom 730 will also include a new technology called IQ Routes, Advanced Lane Guidance as well as all of the previous features available on other TomTom GPS units.

What is IQ Routes? TomTom has taken the average speeds that have been actually driven on roads instead of the posted speeds. This enables the fastest routes to be shown to drivers.

What is Advanced Lane Guidance? On large highways and interstates the correct lane is very important for accurate directions. You will see improved map navigation for individual lanes. Road signs on the TomTom will match those on the road so that visually you will recognize your surroundings compared to the TomTom view.

While researching this Hub I realized how extremely difficult it is to keep all of this information accurate. Sometimes features are called similar yet different names. If I have made given any inaccurate information - please leave a comment and I will correct it. Also, I'd love to hear about your favorite feature.
