I've just had a bruising experience with the WD Caviar Green. I needed to replace a six-year old Samsung 1tb which I used for storage. It's still working but I'm getting warning signals. I researched and decided on the Caviar Green (don't need high speed). The first one arrived from Amazon (in the UK). DOA. I returned it. They replaced it. Second one arrived - also DOA. I know it's not a system failure of any kind as, when I remounted the old Samsung, it was immediately recognised. I also mounted both in a external USB3 caddy that I have. Same result. Two DOA's has destroyed my faith in WD. Might try the Barracuda, even though I don't need its speed.
