What is a cloud storage?

Have you ever felt that you need more space in your computer to store all your photos ? Now it is possible to store all your photos and other files in the internet (cloud storage). Cloud storage is something like an online bank. You have an account number (username) and you set your password to access your account. Instead of keeping all your photos in your computer, you can store them in your online bank or cloud storage. You may be wondering how you can store all your files in the cloud storage. There are several companies that provide cloud storage facility. Typically, what you have to do is to go to their website and install their software. It will create a folder in your computer. All the files that keep in that folder will be automatically copied to your cloud storage (online bank). You can see a special sign in that folder that says if the copying is completed. You don't need to wait for all the files in your folder to be copied. It will do the copying whenever your computer is connected to the internet, so you can shut down your computer after your use and when you restart the computer next time, it will restart copying your files to your cloud storage space. Once the copying is completed, you can delete those files from your computer.

You can also use cloud storage to backup the data, this means you don't delete the files from your computer, but just keep a copy of your files in the cloud space. You can also use cloud storage to share files with friends and families. Cloud storage also helps you to access your files from anywhere in the world, what you need is just an internet connection.

How much does cloud storage costs?

Most companies offering cloud storage offer from 2 GB to 5 GB free space for storage. There are also companies that offer upto 200GB free storage space. For unlimited storage space it costs starting from $10/month. For more information, you have to check the website of these companies.

Below you can see the names of companies offering cloud storage facility. At the end of the article I have also given a link to an external article that helps you understand the pros and cons of using Cloud Storage
