   Electricity is more of a discovery than an invention I know but Thales of Miletus, a Greek philosopher found that if he rubbed cloth with a piece of amber it would generate static electricity, and if he hadn't done that, how long would it have taken to invent the T.V or the 'puter for that matter???

   The vacuum tube valve is significant, along with semiconductor tech.(transistors) Without diodes, capacitors, and resistors, we would have no electronic gadgets. Tesla's A/C power grid may be the most life-changing invention of all time.

   The invention of Transistor in 1947 was the most important invention of all time. The scientists that were responsible for the 1947 invention of the transistor were: John Bardeen, Walter Brattain, and William Shockley.
   Computers, Mobile Phones, iPhones and all other electronic gadgets used by us and Automation in industries became a reality after the invention of Transistor, the core item in everything developed in electronics till today.

   I think that the greatest inventions was the transistor. I would like to agree that the electricity is more important, but the discovery of transistor lead humanity to such a fast progress, that it is sometimes very hard to believe, that thing like that are possible. Obviously, the transistor is the most important.

   A PC is being put together based on Charles Baggage's design, at the time they didn't have the technology to manufacture what he asked for - and folks accused him of being 'mad' but the invention, we would struggle to do all this without a satellite, but then its getting it into space, and then its the designs of it, and then its all those 'chips' and then... so it must be Frank Whittle's Jet Engine.

   Computers would be the obvious answer (Electricity is more of a phenomenon, which was discovered and manipulated via other inventions)
   
   Spectroscopy is quite important, particularly Doppler spectroscopy (named after the physicist Christian Doppler who discovered the Doppler effect - the phenomena that the spectroscopic method utilises).
   The Doppler effect is where the wavelength of a sound changes because of the movement of an object. This spectroscopic method has helped locate most of the extrasolar planets we have found, and may help us to find more 'earth-like' planets.
   
   Or the Snuggie. It's like an artificial cuddle.

   Their is no denying on impact of electricity on our lives and true its most influential modern technology as well but, 
   Its the Wheel which was invented in 4000 BC which truly revolutionized human live and is still in use and we are benefited by it every day.

    I'd say music. It means more to more people around the world than any other single invention. It represents emotion, healing, strength and culture. Music transcends all boundries that other man-made inventions can not.

    computers...it's easier to communicate with each other no matter where you are:D With video calls, you won't have to be so homesick.
    
    Trivia: Even some prison have computers with inmates given 3 minutes to make video calls to their family:D the wonders of technology!

    I actually looked down a list of inventions to figure this one out and Calculus stuck out the most.  Invented by Sir Isaac Newton.  Without Calculus modern engineering would probably not exist the way we enjoy it today.

    Probably the plough, or the stirup that allowed archers to stay in the saddle whilst letting fly with their arrows.  What is your definition of 'technoligical'?   All inventions of a mechanical nature (tools, etc) reflect the technology of the time.

    The wheel. Without the wheel, I doubt that we could have progressed as quickly and moved onto to other inventions without it. It moved us to places more quickly and  readily and put us into contact with other civilizations which may have pushed our creativity and helped us to reach new heights.

    Antibiotics.  Before antibiotics, infection and disease were major threats for which we had little protection. An otherwise recoverable injury might result in death if infection set in. With antibiotics, we have removed most of the fear of dying from a minor injury or infection.

    The most important invention I can think of was steel.  People learned how to make steel and after making a lot of weapons they started using it for other things.  I don't know if that counts as a technological invention so I will also say the computer.  Computers are used almost everywhere now and they are often used to help people create other inventions.  Without computers we would not have a lot of the technology that we have today.
